Puff Adder (Bitis arietans) bites are accountable for the greatest number of bites of any snake in Africa, there are a few reasons why: 1. They live under dry leaves and are exceptionally camouflaged, so people will often step on them. 2. They can be quite slow and sluggish especially when it's cold and don't move out of the way fast enough. However when threatened they can move pretty fast if they want to. 3. They lie on pathways at night to warm up. They are found throughout Africa from sea le
