Why Is This Gopher Tortoise Head-Banging?

As one of the oldest living species on the planet, gopher tortoises are now threatened. Nesting season is from May to mid-July, with typical clutches of 4-8 eggs. Hatchlings emerge from the nest from late August through early November and face immediate threats.
