The proboscis monkey is a unique primate found only on the island of Borneo. It’s best known for its large, droopy nose—especially in males—which is thought to help attract mates and amplify calls. These monkeys live in mangrove forests and river areas, and they’re excellent swimmers, often crossing rivers to find food. Sadly, they’re endangered due to habitat loss and hunting.
