In recent years, it has become even more desirable due to it's rarity of washing ashore, as it lives in deeper, rocky areas of the Atlantic (up to 160 ft deep). The mollusk that creates it is also endangered in some areas. . For me, this is an amazing find, because I found it in NC, just at the top of it
