Juno probes Jupiter's Great Red Spot… NASA's Juno spacecraft learned more about Jupiter's most iconic feature, its great red spot. Juno's first pass over the great red spot in July 2017 collected data that indicates the great red spot penetrates well below the clouds. This data indicates that the solar system's most famous storm is almost one-and-a-half Earths wide and it has roots that penetrate about 200 miles (300 kilometers) into Jupiter's atmosphere.
