Time: 1966 Event: Formula 1 Grand Prix The cars were naturally aspirated V8s and V12s, paired with five or six speed manual transmissions. Rear wheel drive only. No semi automatic gearboxes, no seamless shifts. Drivers worked a conventional clutch and an H pattern shifter, doing everything themselves. Danger was part of the sport. The margin for error was high and forgiveness was zero. Once that danger is removed, it no longer remains the real thing, only a simulation of what it used to be | Pat
