A series of cold fronts will sweep across the southeast of Australia over the next few days (25–29 May), dropping temperatures as we approach the start of winter. What is a cold front? It's the leading edge of a relatively cold air mass that's moving into a region of warmer air. In the Australian region, warm and moist northerly winds often occur ahead of a cold front, while colder and drier southerly winds typically follow behind.
