Clostridium difficile (aka C. diff) is a gram positive, spore forming bacteria that causes this nightmarish, insanely foul smelling, and very contagious diarrhea. It pretty much lives rent free in the amygdala (fear center) of all healthcare workers’ minds around the globe!
