For sewing stretch velvet use size 11 ball point needle; woven velvets use size 11 universal/regular point needle. Use 100% cotton or silk thread. Because velvet has a nap, use an Even Feed/Walking Foot to help prevent the layers from shifting, and hold fabrics taut as you sew. Pin the seam and stitch in the direction of the nap.
