Windows Defender（現在は「Microsoft Defender ウイルス対策」が正式名称）とは、マイクロソフト社が開発・提供するセキュリティソフトやセキュリティサービスのことである。大元を辿ると、Windows XP用にスパイウェア対策ソフトウェアとしてリリースされたものだ。

加えて、Build 17627から「Windows Defender Firewall」の許可・ブロックルールにWSLプロセスを追加できるようになったことが紹介されている。たとえばLinuxツールが外部からのアクセスを待機する場合、初回接続時にWindowsアプリと同じ許可を求めるダイアログが表示されるようになる。
