This would prompt me for a login, and ctrl + c would still work. However, on 25.04, it now hangs before the login prompt, and I can no longer ctrl + c... so have to open another terminal and kill the ...
now go back to LightDM GTK+ Greeter Settings, select the image u want from /usr/share/backgrounds/image.png, and then save.
