12月22日（米国東部時間）、アメリカのトランプ大統領は新たな海軍の「ゴールデンフリート（黄金艦隊）」構想の一環として2隻の新たな『戦艦』の建造計画を承認したことを明らかにしました。ただし旧来的な意味での大砲と装甲を持つ戦艦ではなく、ミサイル主体の超大型水上戦闘艦です。なんと排水量3万～4万トンを予定していると発表されており、大きさだけなら本当に戦艦級です。
